No Comments on SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM

The community support for the Summer Food Program has been so overwhelming that we can’t thank you enough. When the Lane County Library and the Walnut Creek Extension decided to partner and bring this program to Lane County we had no idea if it would be successful. We started on May 23 and will end on August 24. We have served over 800 meals. We also included activities during the summer such as “Lunch and a Movie” and “Make It and Take It Snack”. We have a large list of people we would like to thank: Dighton United Methodist Church for opening their doors and also providing helpers, First Christian Church, St. Theresa Catholic Church, Bible Fellowship Church, Lane County Hospital Staff, PEO, Parents as Teachers, Lane County Sheriff’s officers, Dighton Hornet State Basketball Team, High School Students from here and Ransom all provided helpers. Also a big thanks to the people that donated money and bought snack crackers or fruit so that our children had a snack later in the afternoon. Forgive us if we forgot anyone but thank you for all the help, kind words, and donations.
